What is a Tiny Sarah’s cake made of?

My cakes are made from the best ingredients. You will not find mixes or artificial flavours in my kitchen, but mostly organic and fair trade ingredients – and obviously no animal products. As I am a professional baker trained in Paris, you can be assured that not only will your cake look beautiful, it will taste pretty banging too.

I offer different sizes, shapes and heights for all tiers - for a more modern look, we can play around with them and find a shape that will work for your number of guests. We can also add dummy tiers for effect.

What is different about your cakes?

A cake is never just a cake when we work together. Cakes are pieces of happiness as well as being pieces of art. It is imperative to me that we don’t make “a” cake, but “your” cake, which means that you will get a unique cake to fit your unique personality.

If you cannot afford a cake, don’t hesitate to still contact me. I’ve traded cakes for other things in the past and I might be interested in doing it again! I can also try and work around a budget.

What about allergies? What options do you offer?

All my cakes are vegan. Although obviously none of the ingredients I use contain eggs or dairy, some of them have been made in a factory processing these ingredients. I offer gluten, nut and soya free options for some of my cakes – but bear in mind that these ingredients are used in my kitchen.

For information about specific dietary requirements, please visit these pages: gluten-free cakes, soy-free cakes or nut-free cakes.

Do I need to know exactly what I want to send you a message or ask for a quote?

Absolutely not! We can totally work together to find the design of your dreams – it actually is a lot nicer for me if we are both involved in this process. I also have loads of ideas and you might love one of them!

Make sure to send me all the info you want to give me, all your ideas, pictures of things you like – which do not have to be cakes – and anything that you think can be relevant.

How far in advance do I need to get in touch?

The sooner the better of course – I am only a one-woman show! So if others were quicker than you, it will mean I won’t be able to take on your order. My diary is open for the next two years.

How do I get in touch?

If you are after a custom cake, you can use this order form or email me.

If you are after a simpler celebration cake, happy mail (ie cake through the post), cupcake boxes, or gift vouchers, you can buy them directly from my eshop.

Do you offer consultations?

I do! I do recommend them especially for wedding cakes as it gives us some time face to face to think about the cake of your dream and for you to show me your moodboards, inspiration, stationery etc. Plus you’ll get to meet me, chill with a cup of tea or coffee (I can even make you a hot chocolate), and talk about cats. And last but not least, it might become your favourite wedding planning moment as you will be able to try four flavours to help you choose what you want your wedding cake to taste like! Consultations cost £75, last about an hour and are redeemable against the cost of your cake should you book. If you are unable to come for a consultation, do not worry – we can absolutely design your dream cake via email and if you live in the UK, I can send you a tasting box with Royal Mail.

Are there things you don’t do?

I’m afraid so. I work best when I make the things I love so it’s totally in your interest too!

I don’t make shoe cakes, or any fashion cake. I do not print images to put on cakes either and I do not make rainbow cakes – I never use colourings in my sponges nor in my fillings – I only use them in fondant or if requested in the outside ganache for the design. Colourings have an effect on the attention and general health of children in particular and I think anyone should eat them as little as possible! I don’t do quilted cakes or sheet cakes either. Oh, and I don’t do fruit cakes. I love sponges and I prefer to offer what I love and love making so you know you’ll get the best quality possible!

What is your area of delivery?

I deliver everywhere to the UK, France and Northern / Western Europe in my cake car (compared to my height, it’s more a tank than a car). The furthest I’ve delivered a cake so far is Luxembourg and I can’t wait to beat it! I am based in Reading, Berkshire, at the border with Oxfordshire. I have honestly delivered all over the place, from the Surrey countryside to Wales, with London in between.

I am certain I want to order from you. What do I do?

I will send you an invoice for a £100 deposit to secure your booking. Your design doesn’t have to be final after that and your quote can be altered. After that, I will need remainder of the payment a month before your wedding, with all the information about the cake (flavours, final design and size, allergies).

Do you offer workshops or classes at all?

Yes I do! I do private tuition as well as workshops and classes. For private tuition, please read this page; workshops are announced in my eshop and on Instagram.

I sent you a message but haven’t heard back. What do I do?

I aim to reply to emails within 3 days but I am honestly pretty terrible at them! I have a fabulous assistant, Laura, who helps me stay on top of them and she will be in touch with you to arrange tasting bookings and the bits she can help with. She always keeps me in the loop and tells me when she isn’t in the capacity to answer your questions! If you haven’t heard from me within 5 days, please email again at sarah@tinysarahscakes.co.uk.
